Our Story
MedCline was founded in 2011 by Dr. Carl Melcher, a respected physician and former professor of medicine at the University of San Diego, after being diagnosed with Barrett's Esophagus, a potential precursor to esophageal cancer.
Convinced that positional therapy, applied correctly, could be a more natural and effective treatment option for reducing disease symptoms and relieving pain, he created his own patented solution: the MedCline Reflux Relief System.
Since then, the MedCline Shoulder Relief System, very similar in design, has been developed to meet the needs of people suffering from chronic shoulder pain at night.

I've waited a few weeks before reviewing the MedCline Reflux Relief System, partly because I have to take account of not only acid reflux but a long-term neck problem and chronic rhinitis which makes it hard for me to breath through my left hand side nostril; I also have a titanium plate in my left hip. At first it took me a couple of weeks to experiment with it to see which was the most comfortable position for me. I liked the idea of being able to push my arm through the wedge but I found it woke me up when I tried to turn over during the night and felt a bit trapped. The advantage of this was that it helps hold your body up on the wedge so you don't slide down, but I solved that by adding a pillow. Also, I found that my neck was aching in the mornings, so I use an extra very soft pillow to raise it a little and I also use another one for my hip. Now, some weeks later I have found a position that suits me with the maximum comfort and I really feel 'enclosed' at night adding to a sense of wellbeing. In fairness to MedCline, they do advise customers to experiment to get the most comfortable night's sleep. I can definitely confirm it helps with the acid reflux and, along with controlling my diet, I'm noticing a significant improvement, but I've also found another benefit which is that, despite being in the middle of pollen season, I'm finding I do not suffer so much from rhinitis because my head and shoulders are that bit higher. I have to say I did go through a period ofā¦

This system is a solid choice for those with GERT. I started having issues and all my various pillow propping just wasnāt doing it for me. I did a little research and found this system and decided to give it a try. First night and I had zero issues with acid reflux. Simply put, it does what it says it will do. My only complaint is how bulky the system is in your bed, but to be honest, sleep is worth it.

Recently had oesphagectomy, needed a support to keep me raised to avoid reflux, was having 2 to 3 bad episodes a week, got the MedCline reflux relief and have slept great since, it has really worked for me. Minor discomfort with my shoulder but doesn't affect the improved sleepš
